I agree and hope they pick Nemec. Though I think they will be able to get Nemec or Jiricek with their pick. Both players are close to NHL ready as they have been playing in a mens leagues.
Are they not also both eligible to start out in the AHL since they are coming from Europe? |

Flyers #2 pick Emil Andrae has made the WJC roster for team Sweden. The rescheduled event will take place in August. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t reschedule it for the first week of July. It probably would have created a lot of interest just before the NHL draft. |

Would really be funny to see a repeat of Flyers and Jackets taking back to back dmen.
And yeah, the age restrictions only applies to players drafted out of the CHL. |

Fletcher last summer: “The primary focus certainly going into next year will be on reducing our goals against,” Fletcher said. “Part of that will be certainly looking to the outside to acquire additional help, whether that’s goaltending, defenseman or forwards. Wherever we can upgrade, we will.”
Flyers last season - 294 goals allowed (6th worst)
How does this guy still have a job? |

Chuck has the right last name and plenty of friends in high places to insulate him. |

More from Fletcher in July 2021. His different players didn't get the team going going in a new direction. It was the same direction, only worse.

“It was time for us to bring in different players and get going in a different direction It’s as simple as that,” Fletcher said. “Last year wasn’t good for any of us. (It) just felt like there was a malaise around the team all year. There was no energy, no juice. Nobody smiled. We didn’t play well. Look, we’ve got to get back to being a team. We got to get some energy here.”
“They finally feel like last year’s in the past and that it’s going to be a different world, a different camp, a different and, in my opinion, a better team,” Fletcher said. |

You're right, because all the injuries and firing the coach in December had nothing to do with it! |

Technically he did address that. He brought in Ellis for that purpose. No one could have predicted he would miss a full season, 25 games maybe which appears to be around the average. The other thing that hurt the team was the loss of Couturier and really most other injuries. The reality was many players were forced to play above their means and doing so had them exposed by higher talent.
Reality is this team assuming everyone is healthy and Giroux is replaced, this is a bubble team.

Bringing in a guy that misses 25 games annually for a bubble team is not addressing anything, especially if that guy is on your top pair. |

Do we still believe that Nashville let Ellis go so easily for no apparent reason?

Exactly. The question is - was Niskanen really the lynch pin to the whole D, so that when he retired the whole thing fell apart? |

It is still addressing the issue, maybe not in the most ideal way but Ellis fills a hole on the top pair. He isnt the best fix and not likely the first choice but his presence still addresses the our top pair for most of the season. Top pair Dmen are not growing on trees. If there was one available that was more reliable than Ellis, we likely would have added them instead. We know rebuild is out of the question, so Ellis was the only option.
